Bhakti Kubavat: A Femina Miss India 2014 Contender

Auditions for the Femina Miss India 2014 were recently conducted in Ahmedabad and it was captivating to see the intensity of response the auditions received. Bhakti Kubavat, one of the six shortlisted candidates from the city, got candid with us and tells her story!
So, Femina! How do you feel now that you are shortlisted? How was the experience?
I am really happy with the outcome. It’s an experience I’ll remember and cherish throughout my life. Since my childhood, I read fairytales and relate my life to it: that one day, I will walk with a crown on my head. After getting shortlisted for FMI 2014, I feel I have achieved my dream! I am quite happy as with Femina, I could bring back happiness home!
Home? So your parents must have been quite supportive?
Extremely! Their support is not just financial. They have extended a lot of emotional support as well. They continue to motivate me, and push me to achieve my dreams. I have an amazing family. My elder sister, and my twin brother are highly supportive too, and I have my best friend as my sister-in-law. And when you have your family by your side, I think it becomes really easy to focus on your career.
Why Femina?
Why not Femina?! It’s genuine and reputed, and given my passion for modeling, it will certainly boost my career.

In January 2012, Bhakti won a contest that led her to pose for Femina’s cover.
Let us talk about your life before being shortlisted for Femina. Was it the same?
I started modeling at the age of 18. I was actually pulled into it. I was in Bangalore, hosting shows, and that’s when I was spotted by one of coordinator of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He offered me a Royal Challengers Bangalore’s advertisement. After that, I started getting offers for various other brands.  Later, I had to wind up everything and come back to Gujarat. Back then, I was preparing for CAT and GCET, and I got admission in BK School of Management in the city. During my vacations, I applied for a contest for the Femina Cover Girl Contest and won! I was featured on the Femina Cover Page of their January 2012 edition.
There must have been various achievements ever since that. Can you name some of the most memorable ones?
Miss Gujarat, Clean and Clear Fresh Face, Radio Mirchi College Freshers, Miss Academia All India Level, etc!
Getting back to Femina Miss India 2014, on a scale of 1-10, what do you think are your chances of making it to the top?
10. Self-belief has always been the fuel that has driven me. And, I have always considered it my career to be a journey with experiences and teachings of a lifetime.
Everybody likes a confident approach! So, apart from your career, what all is at stake, if and when you make it to the top?
Well, if you look at it from another perspective, my personal time is also at stake. Don’t you think?
Sure is, but the question is, do you see that as a risk?
Well, being as risk averse as I am, I know it will be a time well spent!
From where you stand right now, with Femina with you, how does life look?
First of all, these are not my dreams. There is my family and these are our dreams and I am set out to make those dreams come true… Right now, my goal is to enjoy this excellent journey and learn as much as I can. I believe if the journey is beautiful, the destination has gotta be beautiful!
Did I tell you I am reading some scripts for a couple of films? *chuckles*
Okay so that is news! If you were to choose from films and modeling, what would you choose?
Films, of course! That way, I will be able to reach a lot more people, and if I get time in between, I would definitely not miss a chance model for good assignments!
What is that you would like to share with our readers?
Believe in yourself and work hard, you will definitely achieve them and dream big and chase your dreams till you conquer them!
